Make a Better Dalgona Coffee | Whipped Mocha Frappuccino
Dalgona coffee, whipped coffee, TikTok coffee — it all means the same thing. This coffee started as a TikTok trend, and now it has exploded all over social media and the internet as the “it-drink” of the moment. Do you think it’s worth the hype? There’s only one way to find out!
Most recipes only call for four ingredients — sugar, milk, water, and instant coffee. Here is a link to an original Dalgona coffee recipe where you can watch a video about making Dalgona coffee. Once you’ve mastered the original Dalgona coffee, try my recipe to give this trending drink a chocolate glow up! I haven’t seen a recipe just like this yet, so I’m excited to share it with you. If you try it, please let me know what you think!
Ingredients
Whipped Coffee
- 1/4 tsp instant coffee
- 1/2 tsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 6 tbs heavy whipping cream
Mocha Frappuccino
- 3/4 cup milk
- double shot espresso*
- 2 tsp cocoa power
- 2 tbs sugar
- two handfuls of ice (approximately 12 oz)
*If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can use ½ cup drip coffee (Starbucks Iced Coffee works great!) and ½ cup milk.
Instructions
Whipped Coffee
In a bowl, combine all ingredients. Whisk vigorously for 5-8 minutes until thick and creamy. Use an electric mixer to simplify the process. Set aside for now.
Mocha Frappuccino
Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour mixture into a glass and spoon the whipped coffee cream on top. Drizzle with melted chocolate and a dusting of cocoa powder. Enjoy!
Hello Lacey, I agree with you that Dalgona Coffee (or whipped coffee) has been a trend for a while because I have seen a lot of videos about Dalgona Coffee everywhere whenever I go online. Also, I have a number of friends that make it, and it looks pretty easy to make. I was considering trying to make one, but I change my mind because some people said that the taste was not that good (or maybe they do not know how to make it?). However, after looking at your new recipe, I think I might have to try to master the original Dalgona Coffee so that I can make the Whipped Mocha Frappuccino! It already sounds delicious. Thank you for sharing a fantastic recipe. I will make sure to put this recipe in my coffee recipe book.
ReplyDeleteI haven’t heard of this coffee it sounds delicious! I’ll have to try it but with the drip coffee instead of the espresso 🤗
ReplyDeleteThis coffee recipe looks so good, and your pictures are great! I have been skeptical about the whipped coffee trend because I've heard reviews that they are very sweet, and I'm not a huge fan of sweet coffee drinks. I do like that you added a shot of espresso in yours though! It looks like such a treat.
ReplyDeleteLacey, I must admit, I made the famous Tik Tok coffee during quarantine and I really liked it. It was a little change to my usual coffee routine. I have heard many people saying it only looks good, but mine also tasted good. I am looking forward to trying your recipe and I am excited for the future posts.
ReplyDeleteThis post completely changed the coffee scene in my house. Granted, I’ve only had the dedication to try this once after reading, but it was so much better than my normal coffee. (As we talked about before, I usually make a sour utilitarian sludge that dishonors the very invention of the French Press.) My kids got a kick out of this too. Looking forward to reading more from you!
ReplyDeleteLacey, will you delivery this coffee to my house? I would like to try but do not want to make it myself even though the instructions seem easy to follow. :)
